News – June 6th

The Wisconsin State Shop hop is underway and the “Market Fresh” fabrics are ready for you to play with just as we’ve finished our vegetable/flower gardens for summer.  Look out your sewing room window and watch the “flora/fauna” come to life and bloom as you create magic with your “Market Fresh” fabrics.  Something new to add to this collection is a new runner “Flower Power”IMG_0303 (2).  Just a bit of whimsy.

We’re been playing with bees this Spring and almost finished.  If you didn’t get a chance to see here’s the Honey Bee Lane quilt just waiting to be quilted:IMG_0297 (2)  We have complete pattern sets and can easily cut up some kits for you should you want to make your own Honey Bee quilt.  A little bit of piecing…a little bit of applique….a little bit of embroidery with cotton and flannel.

Marcus Brothers has a complete line of aged muslin and Nancy Rink has put together a stunning block of the month quilt.  We’ll be doing this project in 3 scheduled sessions, starting June 22nd (cutting and labeling pieces) with the remaining dates of June 29th and July 13th.  We have a few spots open if you’re interested.  And if you don’t get your project completed within these dates we can always add an additional date to come in and sew.  You select cream or navy background.  Contact the shop to sign up.IMG_0271 (2)

Have you ever played with salvages?  If not you just may want to start now.  Caution:  It’s oh so very addicting.  We’ll be having a class August 4th and if you’re interested, contact the shop.  I’m giving plenty of notice so you can start cutting salvages off your fabric pieces….and don’t worry, I have a large tote I’ll gladly share.  We’ll be making a wall hanging which I have at the shop to entice you!  It’s a cutie.

There is also a few spots remaining for the Keepsake Christmas project.  This program starts July 20 with additional dates of August 3rd and 17th…and 31st if you need just one more day.  A photo of this quilt is in June 2nd’s newsletter.

KIDS SEWING CAMP – July 25th – July 29th.  A week filled with projects for 8-14 year old girls and boys who want to learn how to use a sewing machine and just sew!  Every day we’ll be making a project that teaches a new technique and ending the week with a style show and pizza party for parents and grandparents.  You’ll see more on this next week and if you have a child or grandchild you think would be interested contact the shop for more information or to sign up.

Begin Quilting class starting July 8th with additional dates of July 15th and 22nd.  You’ll be making a set of placemats start to finish learning how to properly press, cut, piece, quilting and binding your mats.  It never hurts to take a refresher and you’ll end up with a new set of placemats.

Thimbles 11 year Anniversary Party – July 11th.  Stop in and receive your gift and at the same time hear about an exciting new challenge… can only be fun….there will be cake…..

Enjoy your week.  With the rains come lush green foliage and it also helps pound down the pollen!  It’s a little thick right now.   I love summer.
