June 2, 2016

Finally…up and running with new website.  It feels like forever since I’ve been able to update you on what’s going on at Thimbles.  But I’m back and what fun we’ll have this summer as it’s filling fast with oodles of fun new classes and projects to make.  We’ll be kicking off summer with the Wisconsin State Shop Hop.

The Wisconsin State shop hop begins June 3rd and runs through 25th so you have plenty of time to visit shops around the state but more importantly, if you visit the shops in NW WI, Section 4, each shop in this section has their own customized Villa Rosa pattern you will receive when you visit and have your passport stamped.  Visit all shops in our section and you will receive another fun gift.  This year’s fabric is from Clothworks and is fresh from the market…”Market Fresh”.  Fun whimsical prints that are fresh and light for summer.

We’ve made up some sweet projects with this line and we’ll be running demo’s and following up with classes on the “Blooming Cabin Mini” and the “Blooming Stars Runner” patterns using some fun new templates.   Stop in and see these new projects and sign up for the class.

Some new patterns just in from Crabapple HillIMG_0299 (2)

The photo here doesn’t give them justice.  These small hand embroidered projects are quick and just looking at them make me crave a sweetened lemonade…or as it’s dairy month maybe a Root Beer Float is in the works.

If you’ve always wanted to learn to Hand Quilt….now is the time.  We’ve scheduled a hand quilting class on  June 8th.  We’ll be starting out with a small pillow to not overwhelm IMG_0276 (2)but enough to give you a taste.  If this works out we just may have to continue.  You just never know where this may lead.  Sign up at the shop.

“Home Sweet Home” is this year’s theme for the Row By Row program.  You can see all of the participating shops listing with their row and license plate on the website.  www.rowbyrowexperience.com  Click on Wisconsin license plate or if you’re traveling, click on the states you’ll be traveling to and through to check out the rows of fun.  This program starts June 21st.

IMG_0288 (3)Christmas Keepsakes is another 3 part class we’ve got coming up starting July 20th.  This applique project uses the “freezer paper” method where you will learn the method of turning under the raw edges of your applique pieces and use a simple zig zag or satin stitch to machine applique ornament pieces to quilt top.  We still have a few openings.

You’ve been asking and we now have scheduled a “Kids Sewing Camp” July 25th – July 29th.  This camp is set up for young girls 8-12 wanting to learn to sew.  Each day they will complete a small project learning something new and at the end of the week a show and tell with a pizza party.  If the group is having fun, we can continue making a new project each month.  Sign up at the shop.

Enjoy your week and hope you’re planning your road trip going to “Market” with your quilting friends.  The projects you see will not disappoint you.
