July 18th, 2016

What an absolutely beautiful summer day! But this is also the time of year for Bees…those little buggers dive into your lemonade or sweet soft drink so heads up if you’re outside….We also have them buzzing inside and I just had to play with the new “Bear Paws” line from Benartex and came up with a little mini log cabin table topper using the charms from this line IMG_0388 (2).  The template is a 4″ trim it up log cabin which makes perfect little logs for each block.  Templates and kits are available at the shop.  And if you’ve never made a log cabin mini and are a little nervous about it we’re having a “Mini Log Cabin Class” on August 19th and 23rd and will be making a sweet little table topper using the 4″ mini log cabin template by Creative Grid rulers along with adding some raw edge applique flannel flowers.  So very sweet.  Sign up at the shop.

And if you want there’s still time to sign up for the “Make Mine Mini” Challenge at Thimbles.  Stop in to pick up your fabric packet.  You have plenty of time to complete and enter the project.

Mini’s can be a little intimidating so we’re getting into shape and we’ll stay in shape by making a new Simple What Not from Kim Diehl’s program.  There’s six projects in this set of mini’s and we’ll be making one a month starting in September.  Sign up at the shop.  The first two are complete IMG_0372 (2)

The Salvage class is still scheduled for August 4th and I have a tub of salvages you can draw from if you don’t have enough …..make a simple wallhanging or you can turn your strip blocks into a bag, coaster, place mat, table topper….the sky’s the limit.  So come and play.

The weather is going to get tropical on Thursday, so you might want to stop in and cool down and while you’re here, check out the batiks.   You just may find something you need to complete your project.

Enjoy this wonderful weather….keep cool and create.
