August 29th, 2016

August is fading fast and the ground cover is starting to turn which gets us into the mood to start creating again.  We start pulling out those projects started many months ago and after some time remember why they were put away and left uncompleted before….there’s something about the pattern, design or colors that were chosen that just don’t work.  You may not be able to pinpoint it, but you would really love to finish it.  Don’t set it aside again, bring it in and let us help you.  If you need a few pointers on how something is done, bring it in…quilters don’t go it alone.  Aha moments are so thrilling and we love to see you smile.

Remember the “Make Mine Mini” Challenges are due August 31st.  Voting begins September 1st and prizes will be announced on September 6th at the “Fall Kick Off Party”.  Food and fun along with specials for the day you don’t want to miss.

Start planning your trip for the Falling Leaves Shop Hop event which starts September 23rd.  Eight great shops and 9 days to visit them all.  All shops will be open Sunday 12-3 for those that can’t come visit during the work week.  At each shop you will receive a “FREE” Christmas Fat Quarter and pattern for small project.  And plan to spend a little time at each shop to see the fun demo’s.  We’ve got a doozie this year you just want to see along with a schedule for classes you can sign up and work on your project.

Some September Classes to remember:

Mitten Class – September 27thIMG_0458 (2) Cost is $30 which includes instruction and fabric for mittens.

Bitty Bag Class – September 17th IMG_0473 (2)These are so adorable and great for gifts as we start moving closer to the Holiday Season….Sign up at the shop.

The featured image this week is the brave young gentleman that stuck it out for the entire week of Sewing Camp with the girls.  It was hard to get a photo of him with the girls so we did a photo shoot of him with great grandmother and great grandfather.  He was so happy they joined him.  He’s holding his messenger bag that he quilted, added pocket and button hole!  They loved their sewing week, and we’re scheduling another project.  Next project is a lap rag quilt.  Looking at Saturday mornings in November.  Let me know if you know of someone (8-17) who would want to take this class.  They would need to attend a 2-1/2 hour “begin sewing” class prior to the quilt class.
